The season, day by day

Paula Murrihy (mezzo-soprano) & Tanya Blaich (piano)

A public’s darling’s back with her unmistakable voice, capable of conveying a myriad of emotions, and mesmerising stage presence. This Irish mezzo-soprano set high standards at Oper Frankfurt – with roles including Cesti's Orontea (available on CD, OehmsClassics), Purcell's Dido, Strauss' Oktavian, Bizet's Carmen, Fauré’s Pénélope and, most recently, Handel’s Dejanira. Roles such as Stéphano (Roméo et Juliette), Ruggiero (Alcina), Ariodante, Conception (L’heure espagnole), Mozart’s Donna Elvira, Idamante (Idomeneo) and the Composer (Ariadne auf Naxos) have taken her to houses including the Met in New York, Santa Fe, the Bolschoi in Moscow, Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Covent Garden, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Zurich Opera and the Salzburg Festival. Paula Murrihy turns every role into her own – she forms her characters as subtly, flexibly and adaptably as the programme of her first solo album »I will walk with my love« (released in 2020). We all look forward to seeing this unique artist again, singing music by Brahms, Mahler, Debussy and Grieg. Here's their programme!
