OperaVision Next Generation
How do you embark on a career as a singer appearing at leading theatres around the world and how can you join leading orchestras like the Frankfurt Opern- und Museumsorchester? Oper Frankfurt’s six part (in German) series of videos delves into these questions.
Oper Frankfurt is delighted to be involved in the pilot project OperaVision – Next Generation (OVNG) with our Opera Studio and the Paul-Hindemith-Orchester Akademie. On OVNG’s online platform institutions have the chance of making their programmes fostering up and coming young artists better known to a wider international audience with videos and Livestreams. The first ever major showcase for the encouragement of young artists. These videos, coming into being between 2022 & 2024, offer insights into teaching methods, the day to day life of young artists and excerpts of professional recordings of concerts.
The first documentary, about the Paul Hindemith Orchester Akademie will appear on December 9 2022. Interviews with scholarship holders and board members show the challenges the young musicians face. The second one, being released on December 16 2022, is a streamed recording of a chamber music concert given by these artists which took place in June 2022 at Oper Frankfurt: an enjoyable first class sound experience with works by Mendelssohn, Rota, McKee & Mozart.
The next two appear in January 2023, dedicated to Oper Frankfurt’s Opera Studio: the South African soprano Nombulelo Yende and Swedish soprano Karolina Bengtsson describe how they came to join one of the most renowned talent forgers among German speaking opera houses. A highlight is a recording of both sopranos taking part in a masterclass with Neil Shicoff, which can be seen alongside short and longer excerpts of them singing roles for the first time on stage. A streamed recording of our much loved Opera Studio Soiree which takes place this November in Oper Frankfurt is the subject of a subsequent video.
