Claire Barnett-Jones is back at Oper Frankfurt, where she made her debut in 2020 as Madame Flora in Menotti’s The Medium, to sing Mescalina in this new production of Ligeti’s Le Grand Macabre. Future engagements include the world premiere of The Shell Trial at De Nationale Opera in Amsterdam, concert performances of Götterdämmerung under Vladimir Jurowski and The Cunning Little Vixen under Simon Rattle with the London Symphony Orchestra. She recently made her debut in Bayreuth singing 2nd Norn in Götterdämmerung and Waltraute in Die Walküre. She recently sang roles including Ježibaba (Rusalka) at the Théâtre du Capitol in Toulouse, Gaea (Daphne) at Scottish Opera, 3rd Lady (Die Zauberflöte) at Welsh National Opera, Fricka in a new production of Die Walküre at the Tirol Festival in Erl, 3rd Aristocratic Orphan in Der Rosenkavalier and Annina in La Traviata in Glyndebourne. She was a member of English National Opera’s Harewood Artist Programme from 2019 - 2022, during which time she sang roles including Eurydice Myth/Persephone in Birtwistle’s The Mask of Orpheus, Frederica in Luisa Miller and Suzuki in Madama Butterfly. Recent concert work has taken her to the Royal Albert Hall for the Last Night of the BBC Proms, the Opéra National de Bordeaux, Wigmore Hall, the Orchester in Valencia, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. She has won many prizes, including Operalia, the Netherlands’ »Wagner Prize« and »Joan Sutherland Audience Prize« at the finals of the 2021 BBC Singer of the World. She studied at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, the Royal Academy Opera and Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
