The Romanian soprano Adela Zaharia's 2023/24 season kicked off with her return to the Opéra national de Paris to sing Donna Anna under Alexander Soddy. She also sang Gilda in Rigoletto at the Teatro Real Madrid and Violetta in La traviata at Netherlands Opera in Amsterdam. She is making her debut in Frankfurt singing Konstanze in these performances of Die Entführung aus dem Serail. Roles for her home house, the Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf, included her first Giuliettas in I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Violetta and the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor, a role she sang at the Deutsche Oper Berlin in 2022/23 and Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich in 2017, where she also sang Angelica in Haydn's Orlando Paladino. Recent highlights included the world premiere of Marina Abramović's 7 Deaths of Maria Callas under Yoel Gamzou at the Bayerische Staatsoper, Donna Anna at the Teatro Real in Madrid and Covent Garden in London. She made quite a stir when she sang Elvira (role debut) in a new production of I Puritani in her home house. She sang her first Konstanzes in Die Entführung aus dem Serail at the Hamburg State Opera, a year after singing Violetta at Los Angeles Opera under James Conlon, where she made her very successful North American debut with Gilda. She also sang Pamina with the Komische Oper Berlin in Japan. Concert hightlights include her debut at the BBC Proms with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and the world premiere of Iain Bell’s Aurora, she also sang its mad scene from A Harlot’s Progress at the  Enescu Festival. She appeared in Prague singing Mozart arias alongside Plácido Domingo and performed with the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Barcelona and Moscow. She made her debuts at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, Bolshoi, Edinburgh International Festival and Grand Theatre in Shanghai in Barrie Kosky's production of Die Zauberflöte. She won the Grand Prix at the 2012 Hariclea Darclée International Competition.
