Nils Wanderer is making his debut at Oper Frankfurt singing Tolomeo in this new production of Handel's Giulio Cesare in Egitto. He won first prize at Germany's National Singing Competition and Operalia 2022. He recently sang Speranza in Monteverdi's L’Orfeo and Edgar in Reimann's Lear at the Staatsoper in Hannover. Plans include Tolomeo and Britten's Oberon (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) at the Blackwater Festival in Dublin and Schubert's Winterreise on tour to various concert halls in Canada at the German Ambassador's invitation. Other engagements have taken him to places including the Teatro Massimo Palermo, the Opéra de Lille, as Mary Sunshine in Chicago at the Komische Oper Berlin, the state operas in Berlin and Hannover, the Salzburg Festival, Handel Festival in Halle, the Barbican in London and Versailles, the Philharmonie de Paris and the Vatican, working with conductors including David Bates, Patrick Lange, Kent Nagano, Jordi Savall and Christian Thielemann, and in recital with accompanists including Marcelo Ameral and Daniel Heide in Europe, North America and India. He enjoys collaborating with Peter Plate and Ulf Leo Sommer from the Rosenstolz Band, who developed the role of the Angel of Death for him in the musical Romeo and Juliet at the Theater of the West in Berlin. He's been running the Between the Worlds Festival, which he and »Baden-Württemberg's Castles and Gardens« founded, since 2024. During 2024/25 he'll be Artist in Residence at the Mecklenburg Staatstheater in Schwerin, directing, choreographing and singing in two new operas and a ballet world premiere.  He trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.
