Giorgio Berrugi is back at Oper Frankfurt, where he made his debut in 2018/19 singing the title role in Berlioz’ La damnation de Faust, to sing Loris in this new production of Giordano’s Fedora. Since singing his first Rodolfos in La Bohème at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice in 2007, a role he made his debut with at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona in 2021, this Italian tenor appears at leading opera houses all over the world. This season he sang Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly) at Oper Stuttgart, Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor) at the Teatro Comunale di Modena and Guido Bardi (A Florentine Tragedy) at the ABAO Olbe Bilbao. Other recent highlights have included Gabriele Adorno (Simon Boccanegra) at La Scala Milan and the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Alfredo (La Traviata) at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Cavaradossi (Tosca) at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Macbeth at the Festival Verdi in Parma, Roméo et Juliette in the Arena di Verona, Riccardo Un ballo in Maschera at the Bolschoi in Moscow and the Italian Tenor in Der Rosenkavalier at Covent Garden. He has also appeared at theatres including the Deutsche Oper Berlin, San Francisco Opera and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysée in Paris. He also enjoys a busy concert career, appearing with leading orchestras, most recently in Mahler 8 with the Vienna Philharmonic. He was a member of the Ensemble at the Semperoper in Dresden from 2010 - 2013. Future plans include Turridu (Cavalleria rusticana) at the Festspielhaus in Baden-Baden, Siegmund (Die Walküre) at the Vienna State Opera and Cavaradossi at Greek National Opera in Athens.
