The young Russian tenor Arseny Zakovlev is making his debut in Germany singing Lenski in this revival of Eugene Onegin at Oper Frankfurt, a role he has sung at the Lithuanian National Opera in Riga and in Belgrade. He recently sang Macduff (role debut) in Macbeth, a role he sings at the Opéra de Lyon in 2018, in Palma de Mallorca. Other future engagements include Ismaele in Nabucco at the Semperoper in Dresden. He performed at the Bolschoi Theater in Moscow for the first time when he was only 19. He then joined their Young Artist Programme and sang many roles in operas including Carmen, Don Carlos, Manon Lescaut, Le Nozze di Figaro and Iolanta. His repertoire includes Alfredo (La traviata), Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly), Rinuccio (Gianni Schicchi) and Prince Wladimir (Prince Igor). Born in Moscow, Arseny Yakovlev studied at the Tchaikovsky Conservatoire and with Dmitry Vdovin at the Chorus Academy in his home town.
