Princess Turandot's clever, proud - and determined never to marry. Many princes tried, but weren't smart enough to answer her challenging riddles. This makes Turandot happy: the more difficult her questions, the longer she's an independent woman! A new Prince turns up - brave, curious and very taken with Turandot: her best friend Liù and the three ministers Ping, Pang und Pong. He loses no time and manages to answer her riddles! Turandot's horrified. Getting married wasn't what she wanted!
The Prince makes a deal: If she can find out his name before morning, she's free again. Beijing's turned upside down, Liù's life's in danger – Turandot must decide: What really matters?
