Productions directed by Katharina Kastening have included La Tragédie de Carmen at the Buxton International Festival, Paderewski's Manru at Oper Halle & the Opéra National de Lorraine, which won the Syndicat de la Critique's 2022/23 Grand Prix and the 2022 FAUST Perspective Prize, Eötvös' The Golden Dragon at Oper Halle, a digital Carnival of the Animals for Oper Frankfurt, Brontë at the Arcola Theatre in London, Daphnis et Chloë at Opera Northern Ireland and Rodrigo for children at the Handel Festival in Göttingen. Productions on which she worked as Associate Director included Tosca in Santa Fe, Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg at the Vienna State Opera, The Tsar has his Photograph Taken / The Wise Woman Weill / Orff double bill at Oper Frankfurt, Giulio Cesare in Egitto at theTheater an der Wien, La Forza del Destino at the Semper Oper in Dresden andTosca at the Emirates Palace Auditorium Abu Dhabi. She has assisted many internationally renowned directors; and works often with Keith Warner. She worked as a director's assistant and rehearsed revivals at Oper Frankfurt from 2019 - 2023.
