The soprano Nino Machaidze's back to sing Desdemona in Rossini's Otello, a role she sang for the first time in 2016 at the Theater an der Wien before making her debut at Oper Frankfurt when this new production first opened in 2019.  Born in Tiflis (Georgia), she has made a name for herself at many of the worlds leading opera houses, including Covent Garden, the Metropolitan Opera, Paris' Opéra, the Bayerische Staatsoper, Berlin Staatsoper, Deutsche Oper Berlin, La Scala Milan, the Teatro Real in Madrid, Vienna State Opera, the Liceu in Barcelona, Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels and Los Angeles Opera. During the 2023/24 season she sang Violetta (La Traviata) at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Elektra (Idomeneo) at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège, Nedda (Leoncavallo's Pagliacci) at the Teatro Verdi di Salerno, Elisabeth de Valois (Don Carlo) at the Hamburg State Opera and Laura (Verdi's Rivoluzione E Nostalgia) at La Monnaie in Brussels. She returns to the Teatro Massimo di Palermo this autumn for Elisabetta in Rossini's Elisabeth, Queen of England.  She's also sung Mathilde (Guillaume Tell) in Palermo, Rosina at the Arena di Verona. Leïla (Les pêcheurs de perles) in Los Angeles, Violetta (La traviata) in Naples, the title role in Thaïs in Barcelona, Contessa di Folleville (Il viaggio a Reims) in Copenhagen, Gilda in San Francisco and Luisa Miller in Zurich and at the Salzburg Festival.
