Zuzana Marková, who was born in Prague, is back at Oper Frankfurt where she made her debut in 2018/19 as Elvira in I puritani, a role she sang at Opera Zurich and the Opéra Royal de Wallonie in Liège, which was followed by Gilda in Rigoletto (2021/22), to sing the Princess / Gertraud in this new production of Zemlinsky's rarely performed Traumgörge / George the Dreamer.  She performed on stage aged only 16 in Burian's Opera z Pouti at the Moravian-Silesian National Theatre in Ostrava. She studied singing, piano and conducting at the Conservatoire in Prague. Plans this season include Norina in Don Pasquale at Covent Garden. Recent highlights have included Violetta, one of the roles she is much sought-after for, at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice and when making her debut in the USA at Atlanta Opera, Lucia di Lammermoor in Genoa and Venice, Violetta at the Bolschoi in Moscow, the Teatro Massimo in Palermo and Opera di Firenze, Elena (Nino Rota's Il capello di paglia di firenze) at the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples and Massenet's Manon at Cologne Opera. She appeared recently in concert with the Essen Philharmonic and Prague Symphony Orchestra. She has also appeared at the Opéra Municipale de Marseille, Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux, Opéra Grand d’Avignon, the Teatro Communale in Bologna, Theater Lübeck and Wexford Festival. Her repertoire includes Ismene (Alceste), Amina (La sonnambula), Pamina (Die Zauberflöte),Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Anna Bolena, Oscar (Un ballo in maschera), Ines (L’Africaine), Micaëla (Carmen) and the title role in Sauguet's Les caprices de Marianne.
