After training at Seoul National University Yongchul Lim went on to study with Edda Moser at the University for Music in Cologne from 2005 - 2010. Whilst still a student this Korean bass sang roles including Kuno (Der Freischütz) at the Korean National Theatre, Antonio (Le nozze di Figaro) in Ponte de Lima, Portugal, the Commendatore (Don Giovanni), Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte) and Luther / Rat Crespel (The Tales of Hoffmann) in Solingen, Remscheid and Leverkusen. After appearing as a guest regularly with the WDR radio chorus he joined Oper Frankfurt’s chorus in 2012, often singing solo roles, most recently in Tosca, Nielsen’s Maskerade and Lady Macbeth von Mzensk.
