After graduating in German and History Nicolai Klawa studied singing with Kammersänger Thomas Thomaschke in Lübeck and Professor Arno Leicht. Born in Berlin, he sang the Farmer there in Orff’s Die Kluge / The Clever Girl in 2001 and Osmin in Mozart’s Entführung aus dem Serail with Prague’s Marionette Theater in 2002. He sang a wide range of solo roles at the Staatstheater in Nürnberg from 2003 - 2007, including the Speaker in Mozart’s Zauberflöte, Wagner in Gounod’s Faust and Alcalde in Verdi’s La Forza del Destino. He has been a member of Oper Frankfurt’s Chorus since 2007, where solo roles have included The Novice‘s Friend in Britten‘s Billy Budd, a Knight in Reimann’s Lear and 3rd Maid in Flotow’s Martha.
