Caterina Marchesini's first role as a new member of the Opera Studio in the 2024/25 season is Lady Macbeth's Lady-in-waiting  in a new production of Macbeth  which is followed by Polja in the first revival of our new Tchaikovsky's The Sorceress . Caterina Marchesini was born in Italy and started piano and violin lessons when she was little before joining the Benedetto Marcello Conservatoire in Venice under the direction of Stefano Gibellato, and gaining her diploma in operatic singing with distinction. She then studied with Teresa Perdoncin, Vittorio Terranova and Mara Zampieri and took part in several masterclasses including those held by Renata Scotto, Leone Magiera and Clarry Bartha, who led her in arias from Puccini's Manon Lescaut at the 2021 Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago. She won the 2019 Parma Lirica Prize, was the youngest Italian finalist at the Premio Ettore Campogalliani competition for up and coming young opera singers in Mantua, and reached the finals of the 2022 Debut Competition in Weikersheim. In January 2023 she appeared in a SWR concert for Young Opera Stars with the German Radio Philharmonic under Valentin Uryupin, recently sang Leonora (role debut) in La Forza del Destino at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna under Asher Fisch, Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus at the Opera Ballet in Vlaanderen in Antwerp and Oper Ghent,  Mimì (La bohème) at the Teatro Sociale in Rovigo and Theater Kiel and Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) at the Teatro Ristori in Verona.  She makes her debut as Amelia in Un ballo in maschera at the Teatro Giuseppe Verdi in Busseto this summer and other plans include Liù (Turandot) and Beethoven 9 at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste.
