Magnus Dietrich left the Staatsoper in Berlin’s opera studio to join Oper Frankfurt's ensemble in 2023/24, where he jumped in at short notice to sing Leukippos in our wonderful Daphne, sang Basilio / Don Curzio in a new production of Le nozze di Figaro, 3rd Jew in Salome, Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, Walther von der Vogelweide in a new Tannhäuser and Belmonte (role debut) in Die Entführung aus dem Serail. These were followed by Graf Hohenhollern and Emilio in last season's new productions of Henze's Prince of Homburg and Handel's Partenope, Leander & the Marschallin's Major Domo in Nielsen's Masquerade & Richard Strauss' Der Rosenkavalier - and Mendelssohn's Lobgesang in the final Museum's Concert of the season, conducted by Thomas Guggeis. During 2025/26 he sings Ferrando and Pang in new productions of Così fan tutte and Turandot and roles in the Weill / Orff The Tsar wants his Photograph Taken / Clever Woman double bill, and you can hear him in Haydn's The Seasons, in another Museum's Concert. He recently sang Alfred in Die Fledermaus with Marc Minkowski in Madrid and Paris and Tamino at the Semperoper in Dresden and Staatsoper in Berlin, where roles included Leukippos (Daphne) the Steuermann (Flying Dutchman), and Conte di Lerma (Don Carlo). Future plans include his debut at the Met in New York, with Jaquino in Fidelio and he's been invited to perform at the Palau de la Musica Velencia and with the Helsinki Radio Orchestra. He appeared with the Berlin Philharmonic and Kirill Petrenko in Elijah, in Rossini's Stabat Mater in Berlin's Philharmonie and Mozart's Requiem with the Dresden Kreuzchor. This winner of the 2022 Brixen Classics Young Artists Award and Germany's National Competition studied with KS Prof. Andreas Schmidt at the University for Music and Theatre in Munich and Hartmut Elbert.
