Magnus Dietrich leaves the Staatsoper in Berlin’s International Opera Studio to join the Ensemble at Oper Frankfurt in the 2023/24 season, during which you can hear him jumping in at very short notice to sing Leukippos in our wonderful production of Daphne, which is followed by Basilio / Don Curzio and Walther von der Vogelweide in new productions of Le nozze di Figaro and Tannhäuser, 3rd Jew in Salome, Tamino in Die Zauberflöte and Belmonte in Die Entführung aus dem Serail. After enjoying great success with his first Taminos in 2021/22, this Liz Mohn Culture and Music Foundation scholarship-holder sang the role in Berlin and at the Semperoper Dresden. He also took on the role Leukippos in a new production of Daphne at the Staatsoper in Berlin under Thomas Guggeis at relatively short notice. During the rest of the 2022/23 season he sings the Steuermann (The Flying Dutchman), 1st Jew (Salome) and the Conte di Lerma (Don Carlo). Recent concerts have included Schumann’s Das Paradies und die Peri with the Staatskapelle Berlin, Mozart’s Requiem with the Dresden Kreuz Chor and Elijah under Kirill Petrenko with the Berlin Philharmonic. Other recent roles have included Junker Spärlich (The Merry Wives of Windsor), Scaramuccio (Ariadne auf Naxos), Première Parque (Hippolyte et Aricie), the Innkeeper (Der Rosenkavalier) and Peter Karpati (Christian Jost’s Die Arabische Nacht / An Arabian Night). Other concert work has taken him to the Elb-Philharmonie, the International Hugo Wolf Academy Festival, Leipzig’s Bachfest, the Kissinger Summer Festival and Deci-Delà Festival in Santes. He appears at leading venues around the world as a member of capella sollertia and Vox Luminis. A recording of Brahms duets with the pianist Doriana Tchakarova, Felicitas and Judith Erb was released by MDG in May 2022. This winner of the 2022 Brixen Classics Young Artists Award studied with KS Prof. Andreas Schmidt at the University for Music and Theatre in Munich and Hartmut Elbert. He also took part in masterclasses held by Andrew Watts, Neil Shicoff, Bo Skovhus and Hedwig Fassbender.
