Otar Jorjikia is appearing at Oper Frankfurt for the first time, singing Verdi's Don Carlo, a role he sang last season at Graz Opera and Tiflis Opera, where he has also sung Don José (Carmen), and was heard recently at the Bregenz Festival as Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly). Recent highlights have included his debut at La Scala Milan, singing Cavaradossi inTosca, Gabriele Adorno (Simon Boccanegra) and Ismaele (Nabucco) at Zurich Opera, his debut at Opera Australia as Don José, Riccardo (Un ballo in maschera) at the Teatro Regio di Parma and the Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto) at Teatr Wielki. This tenor from Georgia, who specialises in French repertoire, sang Rodolfo (La bohéme),Alfredo (La Traviata) and Gabriele Adorno, alongside Plácido Domingo at the Mariinsky Theatre. He also sang Nemorino (L'elisir d'amore) at the Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse, Pinkerton at Theater Basel and Gabriele Adorno at Opéra de Rouen and the Festspielhaus in Baden-Baden. He was a member of Opera Zurich's opera studio earlier on in his career, where roles included Gustavo (Un ballo in maschera) and smaller roles in Macbeth and Don Carlo.
