Svetlana Aksenova is back at Oper Frankfurt, where she appeared for the first time last season, to repeat her portrayal of Fedora in the first revival of Giordano's thriller. She is a regular at leading opera houses around the world. Recent triumphs have included Tatiana (Eugene Onegin) at the  Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona and Norske Opera in Oslo, Cio-Cio-San (Madama Butterfly) and Grete Graumann (Der ferne Klang / The Elusive Sound) at Czech National Opera in Prague. She also sang roles including (Tannhäuser) at De Nationale Opera in Amsterdam, the Tsarina (Tzar Saltan) at the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels, the title role in Leoncavallo's Zazà at the Theater an der Wien, Lisa in a new production of Pique Dame at De Nationale Opera, Rusalka at the  Opéra de Paris, Cio-Cio-San (Madama Butterfly) at Zurich Opera and the Deutsche Oper Berlin and Royal Opera in Stockholm  and Fewronija in Rimsky-Korsakov's The Legend of the Invisible City of Kitesch atie Legende der unsichtbaren Stadt Kitesch at the De Nationale Opera and Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona. Born in St. Petersburg, she studied at the Rimsky-Korsakow Conservatoire and took part in masterclasses held by people including the legendary soprano Renato Scotto. She has been a member of the ensemble at Theater Basel for many years, where roles have included Desdemona (Otello), Mimi (La bohème) and Blanche (Dialogues des Carmelites). Her repertoire includes Amelia in Simon Boccanegra, Margherita and Elena in Mefistofele and the title roles in Luisa Miller and Adriana Lecouvreur.
