The American actor Jeff Burrell is appearing at Oper Frankfurt for the first time, as Fred in the first performances in Germany of Olga Neuwirth's Lost Highway. He has appeared in many national and international films directed by, amongst others, Lars von Trier (Nymphomaniac), Roman Polanski (The Ghost Writer), Oles Sanin (The Guide; nominated for an 2013 Oscar), Sam Gabarski, Matti Geschonnek, Christian Petzold and Tom Tykwer. He won the 2018 FSFX Film Festival's Best Actor Award for his role in Robin. Film locations have taken him to many countries, including South Africa, Poland, Spain, Italy, Belgium and Turkey. Jeff Burrell has been a much sought-after speaker / narrator for many years, and has appeared with Sir Simon Rattle and the Berlin Philharmonic, Ascolta, the WDR Sinfonieorchester and the Meining Hofkapelle. Jeff Burrell's career in Germany took off at the Neue Theater Halle, where he was a member of the ensemble from 1994 - 2000. He studied at the School of Performing Arts in New York, Oberlin College in Ohio and – made possible by a Fulbright scholarship – the Ernst Busch University for Drama in Berlin.
