Giacomo Sagripanti, one of the most promising conductors of his generation, is back at Oper Frankfurt, where he made his debut with Rossini's La gazza ladra / The Thieving Magpie in 2015, for the first revival of Christof Loy's thrilling production of Norma. This Italian musician's recent engagements have included Bellini's I puritani in Florence and Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Rossini Festival in Pesaro. He was voted »Best Young Conductor of the Year« at the 2016 International Opera Awards in London. He enjoyed great success with Massenet's Werther at the Opéra Bastille in Paris, where he has conducted Il barbiere di Siviglia, Carmen and La traviata and returns in 2020 for Adriana Lecouvreur. Other engagements have taken him to leading houses including the Semperoper in Dresden (La Cenerentola), the Bolschoi in Moscow (Don Carlo), Zürich Opera (L’elisir d’amore), Seattle Opera (Il barbiere di Siviglia, Le comte Ory) and the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich (La favorite, La Cenerentola). Other future engagements include his debut at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden London with Lucia di Lammermoor and his return to the Opéra de Paris for Madama Butterfly.
