The mezzo-soprano Irene Roberts is making her debut at Oper Frank­­furt. She has been a member of the Ensemble at the Deutsche Oper Berlin for three seasons, where roles have included Carmen, Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), 2nd Lady (Die Zauberflöte), Fenena (Nabucco), Anna (L’Africaine), Lola (Cavalleria rusticana) and Humperdincks Hänsel, and where she can be heard singing Siébel in Gounod's Faust this June. Irene Roberts sang a Flower Maiden (Parsifal) at the Metropolitan Opera in New York auf – a production that was broadcast worldwide in cinemas. Other engagements have included Carmen and Giulietta (Les Contes d’Hoffmann) at San Francisco Opera, Maddalena (Rigoletto) and Rosina (Il barbiere di Seviglia) at Atlanta Opera, Isabella (L’italiana in Algeri) at the Lyric Opera of Kansas City and Janthe (Marschner's Der Vampyr / The Vampire) at New Orleans Opera. She also sang Maddalena in concert performances of Rigoletto with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, conducted by Gustavo Dudamel. Irene Roberts sang the Composer in Ariadne auf Naxos (role debut) in 2016 at Palm Beach Opera, where she began her career as a member of their Young Artist Program.
