The Italian conductor Gaetano Soliman is back at Oper Frankfurt, where he conducted Verdi's Falstaff in 2016, for this new production of La forza del destino. Born in Verona, he was General Music Director of the opera houses in Izmir and Antalya, in Turkey, from 2011 - 2014. Engagements have taken him to places including the Fondazione Arena di Verona, the Teatro Verdi in Salerno, Teatro Lirico in Cagliari, the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona, the Bilbao Exhibition Centre, the Auditorium Carlos Alberto in Lisbon, Bolschoi Theater in Minsk, the Sejong Art Center in Seoul, Opera Română Craiova and the Marbella Opera Festival. His repertoire includes works by Mozart, Bellini, Rossini, Verdi and Puccini. He has also conducted orchestras including the Orchestra Sinfonica di Sanremo, Orchestra Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Orquesta Sinfónica de Madrid, the Latvian Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra and Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra. After studying the violin and viola before taking conducting lessons from Lorin Maazel and Giuseppe Sinopoli, he spent many years as an orchestral musician. He then ran the music side of things at the Fondazione Arena di Verona, the I Pomeriggi Musicali, Filarmonica Marchigiana, Filarmonica Salernitana, Filarmonica Scaligera and Filarmonica Italiana.
