Bernhard Niechotz

Set & Costume Designer

Bernhard Niechotz, chief stage and costumer designer at Theater Münster, is back for the new double bill of Schönberg's Pierrot lunaire / Michael Langemann's Abba Toll (world premiere) in Frankfurt, where he designed Hans Walter Richter's 2012 production of Die Geschichte vom Soldaten/A Soldier's Tale. Recent productions in Münster have included Cavalleria rustivana / Pagliacci (costumes). Until 2015 he was deputy stage & costume manager at the Stadttheater in Gießen, working in drama and opera. His most recent productions there were I wanna be loved by you and Linda di Chamonix (director: Hans Walter Richter). Bernhard Niechotz' free lance work has included Wiener Blut/Viennese Blood, Die Csárdásfürstin and Der Graf von Luxemburg at the Léhar Festival in Bad Ischl, Die Fledermaus in Magdeburg and Regensburg, La Traviata in Stralsund and Die verkaufte Braut/The Bartered Bride and Der Wildschütz in Nordhausen. In 2002 he was partly responsible for staging the closing ceremony of the XVII Commonwealth Games in Manchester. Bernhard Niechotz studied stage and costume design at Paul McCartney’s Institute for Performing Arts in Liverpool (LIPA).
