Yi-Chen Lin, who was born in Taiwan and grew up in Vienna, is conducting the Frankfurt Opern und Museumsorchester for the first time in this new Kurt Weill / Carl Orff double bill. In 2020/21 she took up the posts of Kappelmeisterin and Music Assistant to GMD Sir Donald Runnicles at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, where she recently conducted Die Fledermaus, Il barbiere di Siviglia and Simon Boccanegra. In May/June she makes her debut at the Staatsoper in Stuttgart with Don Giovanni. Other recent engagements have taken her to places including the Teatro Nacional de São Carlos in Lisbon, Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid (Carmen), Teatro Comunale di Bologna (Le nozze di Figaro), Teatro Principal in Palma de Mallorca (L’elisir d’amore & Les contes d’Hoffmann), the Ópera de Tenerife (Il viaggio a Reims), Vlaamse Opera (L’heure espagnole), the Bregenz Festival (Madama Butterfly), the Rossini Festival in Pesaro, Quincena Musical de San Sebastián and Festival de San Lorenzo in Spain, and concerts with orchestras including the Vienna, Munich and Düsseldorf symphonies, the Orchestre de l’Opéra de Lyon, Orchestre national de Metz, the Tonhalle in Zürich, hr-Symphony Orchestra Frankfurt, SWR Symphony, the Orchestra Filarmonica del Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Orquestra Sinfónica Portuguesa, Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona, Orquestra Gulbenkian in Lisbon and Basque National Orchestra. She studied the violin and piano before taking up conducting, gaining valuable experience from Bertrand de Billy, Bernard Haitink, Zubin Mehta, and David Zinman. She made her debut as a conductor in 2009, with the Radio Symphonie Orchester in Vienna in the Musikverein.
