The pianist, coach and accompanist Michael McMahon is Associate Professor for singing and piano at McGill University in Montreal, where he studied before joining the University for Music and the Performing Arts in Vienna and the Salzburg Mozarteum's international summer academy, where he studied with people including Erik Werba, Hans Hotter, Elly Ameling and Jörg Demus. He was invited to work with companies including the Violons du Roy, the Grands Ballet Canadiens, Opéra de Montréal, the Société Pro Musica, Wexford Festival and Debut Atlantic. He has enjoyed long term relationships with the Atelier lyrique der Opéra de Montréal, the Banff Centre for the Arts in Alberta and Franz Schubert Institut in Baden near Vienna. He also sits on juries at many competitions, gives masterclasses, can be heard on prize winning CDs and heard regularly on recordings made by the CBC in Canada, the BBC, Radio Suisse Romande and Radio France. A sought-after accompanist, he has appeared in Canada, Europe and the USA with singers including Karina Gauvin, Philippe Sly, Gerald Finley, Michael Schade and Adrianne Pieczonka. Michael McMahon is appearing at Oper Frankfurt for the first time.
