Nanako Becker was born in Japan and joined the Frankfurt Opern- und Museumsorchester in 2011 as solo oboist. She had her first oboe lesson when she was 13. She studied at the Tokyo University of Fine Arts of Music with Prof. Yoahiaki Obata and Otto Winter. She was also taught by Jaime Gonzalez in Freiburg and Alexandre Gattet and Maurice Bourgue in Paris. Nanako Becker won 1st prize at the 39th Sanyo Junior Competition in Japan. Further accolades followed: 1st prize at the 2010 Conference of Principals of German music universities competition in Trossingen, 1st prize, the audience prize and the E. Nakamichi Prize at the 2010 NHK's Japan Music Competition in Tokyo, 3rd prize at the 2012 International Oboe Competition in Karuizawa, and 2nd prize at the 6th international Guiseppe Tamassini oboe competition in Italy in 2013. Nanako Becker joined the University for Music in Karlsruhe 2008 to further her studies with Prof. Thomas Indermühle.
