Matthew Polenzani (tenor) & Julius Drake (piano)
Recital
Star tenor Matthew Polenzani’s back in Frankfurt, where he took part in a wonderful open air concert outside Frankfurt’s town hall last year, with his pianist Julius Drake. He’s undeniably one of the leading lyric tenors of his generation, whose rocketing international career’s been linked to Oper Frankfurt since 2008, where roles included Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor) and the title role in Berlioz’ La damnation de Faust. He won the Metropolitan Opera’s 2008 Beverly Sills Artist Award, where he’s a regular guest. Recent highlights have included lead roles in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, Maria Stuarda and Roberto Devereux, Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), Rodolfo (La bohème), Giasone (Médée) and Verdi’s Don Carlo. Now you can hear him as a masterful Lieder singer.
