Streamed Recital: Marlis Petersen (soprano) & Stephan Matthias Lademann (piano)
INNER WORLD
She is, unquestionably, one of the most extraordinary and versatile singing actresses of our time. Whether on the operatic, concert stage or in recital – Marlis Petersen is always totally convincing with her crystal clear soprano, stupendous technique and unique talent, gripping and sensuous in all manner of very different characters. Lulu was one the roles she sang all over the world for many years. She has recently added several new roles to her huge repertoire, which ranges from the baroque to contemporary music: Salome, Alcina, Marie (Die tote Stadt / The Dead City), Maria Stuarda and, most recently, the Marschallin in Der Rosenkavalier. Voted »Singer of the Year« several times by Opernwelt magazine, her last role in Frankfurt was Hanna Glawari in a wonderful new production of The Merry Widow.
»"The mysterious path leads inwards," said Novalis; "eternity, with its worlds, past and future, is within us or nowhere.« In her three-part Lieder project Dimensions Marlis Petersen and her accompaniest Stephan Matthias Lademann dedicate themselves to World, Otherworld and now Inner World. They turn to the spheres of visions and dreams, the inner night of unconsciousness and the soul's workshop with Lieder by Liszt, Brahms, Wolf, Mahler, Hahn, Duparc, Fauré and others. This recital, originally to have taken place on Whit Monday, is being streamed on this website, YouTube and Facebook from 7.30pm on May 28 instead.
