The South Korean baritone Taehan Kim, who joined the Ensemble in Frankfurt in August 2025, thrilling audiences with roles including Guglielmo (Così fan tutte), Moralès / Dancaïro (Carmen) and Yamadori (Madama Butterfly), has been passionate about Lieder singing since he discovered, aged 14, this »unique combination of music and poetry« listening to recordings by Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. Now you can hear him with GMD Thomas Guggeis, with whom he gave a recital while a member of the Staatsoper in Berlin's international Opera Studio, in recital in the Holzfoyer. Their programme, Paths to a far off Beloved, includes Mahler's Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen, Beethoven's An die ferne Geliebte and works by Clara Schumann and Ralph Vaughan Williams.
