Taehan Kim joins Oper Frankfurt's ensemble in the 2025/26 season, making his house debut as Guglielmo in the new production of Così fan tutte, which is followed by Moralès / Dancaïro in Carmen, Yamadori in Madama Butterfly and Melot in Tristan und Isolde. He joined the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin's Opera Studio in 2023, singing roles including 2nd Armed Man (Die Zauberflöte), Marquis d’Obigny (La traviata), Marullo (Rigoletto), a Hunter (Rusalka), Carceriere (Tosca), Sid (La fanciulla del West), 1st Musketeer (Khovanshchina) and 1st Soldier in the world premiere of Marc-André Dalbavie's opera Melancholy of Resistance. He appeared in recital at the Staatsoper's Apollosaal with the mezzo-soprano Corinna Scheurle, accompanied by Thomas Guggeis. He made his operatic debut in 2024, singing Marcello in La Bohème at the Metropolitan Opera in Seoul and took part in the Last Night of the BBC PROMS Korea with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra under Ryan Wigglesworth. Born in South Korea, he won many important competitions after studying at Seoul National University's College of Music, including 1st Prize at the 2023 Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels, the Rolex Audience Prize at Plácido Domingo's 2023 Operalia and the Brian Dickie Young Talent Award at the 2022 Neue Stimmen international singing competition.
