Taehan Kim made his operatic debut in 2024, singing Marcello in La Bohème at the Metropolitan Opera in Seoul and took part in the Last Night of the BBC PROMS Korea with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra under Ryan Wigglesworth. Born in South Korea, he won many renowned competitions after studying at Seoul National University's College of Music, including 1st Prize at the 2023 Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels, the Rolex Audience Prize at Plácido Domingo's 2023 Operalia, the Brian Dickie Young Talent Award at the 2022 Neue Stimmen international singing competition, the Scholarship prize at the 28th Concorso Internazionale Riccardo Zandonai and Special Prize at the 59th Concurso Tenor Viñas competition's Opera Workshop, both in 2022. He joined the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin's International Opera Studio in 2023, since when roles for the company have included 2nd Armed Man (Die Zauberflöte), Marquis d’Obigny (La traviata), Marullo (Rigoletto), a Hunter (Rusalka), Yamadori (Madama Butterfly), Carceriere (Tosca), Sid (La fanciulla del West), 1st Musketeer (Khovanshchina) and 1st Soldier in the world premiere of Marc-André Dalbavie's opera Melancholy of Resistance. He appeared in recital at the Staatsoper's Apollosaal with the mezzo-soprano Corinna Scheurle, accompanied by Thomas Guggeis.
