Ligeti's Le Grand Macabre
The first work to be discussed is Ligeti's amusingly grotesque end of the world opera. Just how real the concept of an apocalypse is today and how would people try and carry on functioning in the face of an apparently hopeless situation? The well-known sociologist Armin Nassehi is there to discuss this with Michel Friedman.
