seeing a friend again
The last concerts this season welcome back our dear friend Sebastian Weigle, long-standing chief conductor and artistic manager of the Museumsconcerts, conducting the Frankfurt Opern and Museumsorchesters for the first time as a guest.
With works by two composers dear to his heart. Beethoven's Violin Concerto with the young violinist Daniel Lozakovich, back after a wonderful performances of Brahms' concerto. They're a well-rehearsed team, having played together in one of our concerts in 2020 and in Tokyo, with Beethoven's violin concerto. Followed by Rachmaninov's 2nd Symphony, thought to be his most important orchestral work. Rhapsodic and exuberant with rapturous melodies, reminiscent of his piano concertos, a Russian folk theme, rousing scherzo and, as is usually the case with Rachmaninov, a magnificent climax at the end - of the concert and the season.
