Younji Yi

Younji Yi joins Oper Frankfurt's Opera Studio in the 2025/26 season, during which you can hear her as Ismene and Piacere in new productions of Mozart's Mitridate, re di Ponto and Handel's Triumph of Time and Truth and Yvette in a revival of Weinberg's The (female) Passenger. This Korean soprano studied at Korea's National University of Arts and the Conservatory of Music in Sydney, taking part in productions on stage singing roles including Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro), Servillia (La clemenza di Tito), Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus) and Valletto (L’incoronazione di Poppea). She was a member of Daegu Opera House's opera studio for the 2024/25 season, where she sang Pamina (Die Zauberflöte). Other roles in her repertoire includ Mimi (La bohème), Adina (L'elisir d'amore) and Gilda (Rigoletto). She has also taken part in masterclasses held by artists including Graham Johnson, Zoran Todorovich, Samuel Yoon, Benjamin Appl, Peter Edelmann and Graham Pushee teil. She won a prize at the FAC Handa Australia Singing Competition, won the Joan Sutherland and Richard Bonynge Foundation's Bel Canto Award and reached the semi-finals of the »Neue Stimmen« competition in Gütersloh.
