Theo Lebow has enjoyed success with many roles at Oper Frankfurt since joining the Ensemble, including Jago, followed by the title role in 2024, in Rossini's Otello, Monostatos (Die Zauberflöte), Kaherdin (Frank Martin's Le vin herbé), Lanciotto (Mercadante's Francesca da Rimini) and Contareno (Rossini's Bianca e Falliero) - two roles he had great success with at the Tirol Festival in Erl. Last season he thrilled audiences with his portrayals of the Painter / Punter in a new production of Berg's Lulu, Arv in Nielsen's Masquerade, the Teacher / 1st Foreman in Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk - all role debuts - and repeating his wonderful portrayal of Contareno in Rossini's Bianca et Falliero. During the 2025/26 season you can hear him as Niceo and Argirio in new productions of Steffani's Amor vien dal destino and Rossini's Tancredi, his hilarious Baron von Campotasso in Offenbach's The Bandits, and a Shepherd in Tristan und Isolde. Other roles for the company included Desiré in Giordano's Fedora, Sumers (Cimarosa's L'italiana in Londra - get the DVD!), Vicomte de Cascada (The Merry Widow), Snout (Britten's Midsummer Night's Dream), Borsa (Rigoletto), 1st Jew (Salome), Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), Tom Rakewell (The Rake’s Progress), Massimo (Gluck's Ezio), The Marquis (The Gambler), Scaramuccio (Ariadne auf Naxos) and the Chevalier (Schreker's Elusive Sound - get the CD!). He also sang in Betulia liberata, Il trovatore, Billy Budd, Trojahn's Enrico, Maderna's Satyricon and the world premiere of Herrmann's The Tenant (commissioned by Oper Frankfurt). This American tenor sang Almaviva (Il barbiere di Siviglia) and Don Ramiro (La Cenerentola) for Boston Midsummer Opera, Jupiter / Apollo (Semele) in Seattle, Picasso / F. Scott Fitzgerald in the world premiere of Ricky Ian Gordon's Opera 27 (CD - Albany Records) at the Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Jaquino (Fidelio) at Shippensburg Music Festival, Mr. Porcupine in Tobias Picker's Fantastic Mr. Fox ( Grammy for »Best Opera Recording 2020«) in San Antonio and the Odyssey Opera in Boston and made his Canadian debut singing Fenton in Falstaff at Opera Hamilton. Concert work has taken him to the Carnegie Hall and the Stern Auditorium in New York.
