The baritone Younjin Ko is back at Oper Frankfurt, where he sang in the world premiere of Vito Žuraj's Blühen earlier in the season, for this new Britten The Prodigal Son / Burning Fiery Furnace double bill. He studied at Dankook University in Seoul before preparing for his masters with Andreas Karasiak at the University for Music in Mainz. His repertoire includes Marco in Gianni Schicchi, the title role in Verdi’s Falstaff, Baron Mirko Zeta in Lehàr’s Die Lustige Witwe / The Merry Widow, Frank in Strauss’ Die Fledermaus, Belcore in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, Nick Shadow in Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress and Alfio in Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana. He was awarded a scholarship by the Richard Wagner Verband Wiesbaden in 2019 and won prizes at the 2019 VIVA BEL CANTO and 2020 Gutenberg-Gesangsstipendium master courses and 2022 Neustadt master singer course.
