The Canadian countertenor David DQ Lee is back at Oper Frankfurt, where he jumped in at short notice to sing Ruggiero in Vivaldi's Orlando furioso in 2010 , to sing Mascha in this new production of Eötvös' Tri sestry / Three Sisters. This award winning singer – competitions where he enjoyed great success have included the Francisco Viñas Competition in Barcelona – has built up an impressive repertoire with well known conductors and ensembles. Future engagements include concert performances of Orlando furioso at the Theater an der Wien, a repeat of his portrayal of Disinganno in Il trionfo del tempo e del disinganno at the Stanislawski Opera in Moscow and the title role in Philip Glass’ Akhnaten at Theater Dortmund. Recent engagements have included Nerone (L’incoronazione di Poppea) and Arsamene (Xerxes) at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, the title role in Porpora's Mitridate in Schwetzingen, Argillano (Orlando finto pazzo) at Korean National Opera in Seoul, Gluck's Orfeo in Bregenz, Handel's Tamerlano in Beaune, Unulfo (Rodelinda) in Paris and Versailles and the Serpent in the world premiere of Giorgio Battistelli's CO2 at the Teatro alle Scala in Milan. David DQ Lee has also performed at Zurich Opera, Theater Basel, the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Nationale Opera Amsterdam, the Deutsche and Komische operas in Berlin, the Dresden and Hamburg state operas, Cologne Opera and many leading baroque festivals.
