Alfred Reiter has performed many, very varied roles at Oper Frankfurt since joining the ensemble in 2008/09, including the Doctor (Wozzeck), Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte), Dansker (Billy Budd), Narbal (Les Troyens), Arkel (Pelléas et Mélisande), Trulove (The Rake’s Progress) and Graf Waldner (Arabella), Pope Pius IV. / Cardinal Christoph Madruscht (Pfitzner's Palestrina - conducted by Kirill Petrenkö: available on CD/OehmsClassics), Peneios (Daphne), Kalervo (Sallinen's Kullervo), Fasolt (Das Rheingold - available on CD - OehmsClassics), Raimondo (Rienzi - OehmsClassics) and Seneca (L’incoronazione di Poppea). He sang Herr Zenk in the world premieres of Arnulf Herrmann's Der Mieter/The Tenant and Lucifer in Lucia Ronchetti's Inferno (summer of 2021 in the Bockenheimer Depot). Roles during the 2023/24 season include Astradamors & the Pastor in new productions of Ligeti's Le Grand Macabre & Zemlinsky's George the Dreamer and 5th Jew in Salome. Last season he repeated his wonderful portrayal of La Roche in Capriccio and sang Dr. Muthesius in the very successful world premiere of Vito Žuraj's Blühen / Blossoming, (»World Premiere of the Year«  2023 -Opernwelt) Geronte de Ravoir (Manon Lescaut), Uncle Bonze (Madama Butterfly) and the Tsar's Companion / Gaoler in a wonderful new Kurt Weill / Carl Orff The Tsar wants his photograph Taken / The Clever Woman double bill. Roles in 2021/22 included Jeronimus in a new Nielsen's Maskerade, the Archbishop in Szymanowski's Król Roger,  Uncle Bonze in a new Madama Butterfly and Talpa (Il tabarro) & Simone (Gianni Schicchi). This bass, who studied in Munich, has sung many roles in theatres around the world, including Sarastro at the Bregenz Festival, in Berlin, Munich, Geneva, Vienna, Salzburg, Paris, London, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Tokyo, Graf Waldner in Arabella at the Nationale Opera Amsterdam and Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, where he also sang Tomaso (Tiefland), the Hermit (Der Freischütz) at the Styriarte Festival in Graz and Grand Théâtre in Geneva, King Marke in Geneva, Gurnemanz (Parsifal) at the Staatstheater in Karlsruhe and Arkel (Pelléas et Mélisande) with Welsh National Opera in Hong Kong.
