Finnegan Downie Dear is appearing at Oper Frankfurt for the first time with these performances of Le nozze di Figaro. It was to have been a revival of Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin but … He studied at Cambridge and the Royal Academy of Music London and has assisted at leading opera houses around the world including the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, Zurich Opera, the Munich, Berlin and Vienna state operas and the Salzburg Festival. Born in London, recent highlights have included Gerald Barry's Alice’s Adventures Underground at Covent Garden, Korngold's Die tote Stadt / The Dead City,  Hänsel und Gretel  at Korean National Opera in Seoul and the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and Turnage's Greek at Scottish Opera. Future plans included Don Giovanni at Nevill Holt Opera, Le nozze di Figaro at the Royal Opera in Stockholm and he will be going to the Tiroler Festival in Erl. He brings 20th century and contemporary operas to the stage as music director of Shadwell Opera. Recent concert engagements have included appearances with the Göteborg Symphony, the Klangforum Wien, the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Korean Symphony Orchestra, Ensemble Resonanz, the RTÉ Symphony and Concert Orchestra, the Slovak State Philharmonic Košice and Orchestre Philharmonique de Luxembourg. Finnegan Downie Dear was made a member of the Royal Academy of Music in 2017 and won the Bamberg Symphony's 2020 Mahler Competition.
