Beomseok Yi

Beomseok Yi, who conducted this production of Adolphe Adams' Le postillon de Lonjumeau at the Tirol Festival in Erl when it first opened, is making his debut at Oper Frankfurt. He studied conducting in Graz, where he graduated with distinction in orchestral conducting, under the guidance of Professor Martin Sieghart, while studying coaching with Professor Günter Fruhmann. During his studies he worked as a coach and off stage conductor at Graz Opera. He was awarded a scholarship for talented artists by the City of Graz in 2015. He also attended numerous masterclasses and has conducted orchestras including the the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, the Romanian Radio and Savaria symphony orchestras, the Ljubljaner Festival Orchester and Israel Chamber Orchestra. He has been working at the Tirol Festivals in Erl since 2016, where he is a Kapellmeister. He conducted his own composition, Lux aeterna at the opening of the 2017 Summer Festival in Erl. Another hightlight at the 2018/19 Winter Festival was a work he and Stefano Teani composed: Maximilian at the start of the Maximilian Year 2019. He conducted the 2020 and 2021 Yellow Stars concert with the Belarusian Philharmonie in Minsk to mark international Holocaust memorial day. He started leading the symphonic brass orchestra and working as a professor in conducting at the University for Arts in Graz in 2022.
