Roland Horvath

The Austrian film maker Roland Horvath has been creating videos (often teaming up with Carmen Zimmermann) for the company rocafilm for plays, operas and documentaries since 2010. Working regularly with, amongst others, Damiano Michieletto since 2012: Don Pasquale and Don Quichotte at the Opéra National de Paris, La damnation de Faust at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma (2018 Abbiati Prize for best production), La bohème and Falstaff (which was also seen at La Scala Milan). Rocafilms have been working with Claus Guth since 2016 on, amongst others, Bérénice at the Opéra National de Paris, Dusapin's Il viaggio, Dante in Aix en Provence, Haas' Bluthaus at the Cuvilliés Theatre in Munich, Don Carlo at the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, Handel's Orlando at the Theater an der Wien, the world premiere of Chaya Czernowin's Heart Chamber at the Deutsch Oper Berlin, Khovanschina at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Salome at the Bolschoi in Moscow, Jenůfa at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, Turandot at the Vienna State Opera and The Doppelgänger at Park Avenue Armory in New York. Much of their work has been seen at the Salzburg Festival, most recently in Dalbavie's Charlotte Salomon, directed by Luc Bondy, Il barbiere di Siviglia, (dir: Rolando Villazon), and Handel's Il Trionfo del Tempo e del Desinganno (dir: Robert Carsen). He has also worked at the Met in New York (Carmen: directed by Carrie Cracknell), the National Theatre in London (Mmenonic, dir: Simon McBurney) and the directors Alexander Eisenach and Volker Hesse at the Schauspielhaus in Graz.
