Lars Eidinger joined the Berliner Schaubühne’s ensemble in 1999, where he has enjoyed great success with roles including Hamlet, Richard III and Peer Gynt. He played Hofmannsthal’s Jedermann at the 2022 Salzburg Festival. His breakthrough on the silver screen was in Maren Ade’s Alle Anderen / Everyone Else, which was followed by Hans-Christian Schmid’s Was bleibt / What’s Left, Chris Kraus’ Die Blumen von Gestern / Yesterday’s Flowers, Markus Goller’s 25 mph and Vadim Perelmann’s Persischstunden / Persian Hours. He worked with the director and script writer Olivier Assayas on Clouds of Sils Maria, Personal Shopper and Irma Vep, to name but a few, and actress Isabelle Huppert on a film of Laurent Larivière’s Joan Verra. The award winning film Schwesterlein / Little Sister, in which Lars Eidinger played alongside Nina Hoss (dir: Stéphanie Chuat and Véronique Reymond) was nominated for an Oscar in the Best international Film category. He, Noah Baumbach and Adam Driver appeared on Netflix’ White Noise and he acted with George Clooney and Adam Sandler in Jay Kelly. Most recent releases include Matthias Glasner’s Sterben / Dying and Tom Tykwer’s Das Licht / The Light. Lars Eidinger has won many prizes, including the German Critics’ Prize, a Grimme, the Austrian and Bavarian film prizes and the Ernst Lubitsch Prize. He studied at the »Ernst Busch« University for Drama in Berlin from 1995-1999. Whilst still a student he performed at the Deutsche Theater Berlin, working with Jürgen Gosch. Lars Eidinger is also much in demand as a director, musician, photographer and DJ (Party series Anti Disco).
