Oper Frankfurt'S CHILDREN'S CHORUS
Oper Frankfurt's Children's Chorus consists of around 60 boys and girls aged 7 - 18. During the 2024/25 season they can be heard in the new production of Parsifal and revival of Honegger's Jeanne d’Arc, which they also recently sang, to great acclaim, with the hr-Sinfonieorchester in Frankfurt's Alte Oper. Recent productions in which this versatile group of young people participated included a Britten Prodigal Son / Burning Fiery Furnace double bill, Werther, Hänsel und Gretel, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Königskinder, Carmen and Szymanowski's Król Roger.
Álvaro Corral Matute has been Chorus Master since 2021/22 and Anna Ryberg is in charge of vocal training and coaching the children on stage. They normally rehearse on Thursdays, but meet up more often if involved in productions, on stage and in rehearsal. They improved so much that some started singing solo roles in 2009/10, such as the 3 boys in Die Zauberflöte, Shepherd Boy (Tosca), fox cubs in The Cunning Little Vixen, in Delius' Village Romeo and Juliet, Handel's Messiah and Puccini's Il trittico (Gianni Schicchi).
