Opera for Children Carmen
Georges Bizet (1838-1875)
Carmen's curious, impudent and her lively character brightens day to day life more than anyone else. Men lie at her feet. Don José's supposed to teach her a lesson for getting up to mischief again, but he finds it hard to stand firm, and lets her go, which means he has to scarper too, to avoid getting into trouble. They go and join Carmen's friends, lead a carefree jolly life - free as birds, until Carmen falls in love with the bullfighter Escamillo, and loses all interest in José. A dramatic quarrel about love and jealousy escalates.
