Raphaela Rose

Frankfurt born Raphaela Rose made her operatic debut at Oper Frankfurt, designing costumes for Ted Hoffman's production of Rinaldo, which was followed by Orlando and Die Zauberflöte. She worked with him at the Staatsoper Hannover (world premiere of Denis & Katya) and De Nationale Opera in Amsterdam too. Now she's back with the company for this new production of Rossini's Tancredi directed by Manuel Schmitt, and returns in 2026/27 for new stagings of Chausson's Le roi Arthus (Manuel Schmitt) and Martinů’s Greek Passion (Matthew Wild). Other engagements have taken her to places including Theater Regensburg and the Opéra national du Rhin in Strasbourg with the director Nicola Raab and the Ensemble in Berlin, working with Ersan Mondtag and Oliver Reese. Other operas for which she designed costumes at Oper Frankfurt included Fauré's Pénélope, Rossini's La gazzetta, Donizetti's Don Pasquale, Mercadante's Francesca da Rimini (co-production with the Tirol Festival in Erl), Partenope (dir: Julia Burbach) and Matthew Wild's Tannhäuser (»Performance of the Year 2024«, Opernwelt magazine), being revived for the first time next season! Other recent projects included Il barbiere di Siviglia at Oper Bonn (Matthew Wild) and La bohème in Krefeld with FAUST German Theatre Prize winner Dennis Krauß.
