The Romanian soprano Bianca Mărgean is making her debut at Oper Frankfurt, singing the title role in Tosca. She studied at the University for Music in Bucharest with Eleonora Enăchescu and Maria Slătinaru-Nistor and continues her vocal development under the guidance of Ira Siff, Liora Maurer and Lucy Arner.  She's a member of Bucharest State Opera's ensemble, where roles have included Aida, Tosca, Turandot, Amelia in Un ballo in maschera, Elisabetta di Valois in Don Carlo and Cio-Cio-San in Madama Butterfly. Her impressive stage presence has also been seen when she sang Maddalena (role debut) in Andrea Chénier at the Festival »Di parola in musica« in Baveno on Lago Maggiore. She sang Cio-Cio-San at Zagreb National Opera and Aida at the Jerusalem Lyric Opera Festival and won many prizes and awards, including 1st Prize at the »Hariclea Darclée« international singing competition in Brăila and »Victor Giuleanu« competition in Bucharest, came second at the »Ottavio Ziino« and »Mihail Jora« competitions in Rome and Bucharest and was awarded the »Prize of Excellence« at the 2018 Romanian Opera Awards. Plans this season includeTurandot at Theater Dortmund.
