The Norwegian coloratura soprano Frøy Hovland Holtbakk is making her debut in Germany this evening singing Frasquita in Carmen. She studied at the Institute of Music in Oslo and Royal Danish Opera Academy in Copenhagen. Whilst a student she sang roles including  Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro), Ginevra (Ariodante), Miss Jessel (The Turn of the Screw), Giulietta (I Capuleti i Montecchi) and Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte). She made her debut at the Royal Danish Opera in Copenhagen as Papagena (Die Zauberflöte), returning for roles including Ida (Die Fledermaus), a Flower Maiden (Parsifal) and Frasquita (Carmen) –  in Barrie Kosky's production. She as a diverse and interesting repertoire and is much sought-after in Norway and Denmark for concerts.
