Sébastien Dutrieux is sought-after worldwide for plays, opera and concert. His roles range from the classic to contemporary in works by playwrights including Fausto Paravidino, Caryl Churchill and David Hare. He appeared in Denis Marleau’s production of Chekhov’s The Black Monk in Montreal, Ottawa and Québec. Opera work has included Rameau’s nephew (based on Diderot) and a role in Attahiram's Le silence des ombres the Théâtre Royal de La Monnaie in Brussels, Don Juan (Béatrice et Bénédict) in Brüssel  and the Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse, Brother Dominique at Theater Basel and La Monnaie in Brussels and Parsifal’s Doppelgänger in Dmitri Tcherniakov‘s production for the Staatsoper Berlin, where he recently took part in the world premiere of Dalbavie's Melancholie des Widerstands. Other engagements have included Bassa Selim (Die Entführung aus dem Serail) at the Staatsoper in Stuttgart, the Narrator (L'Histoire du soldat) at places including opera houses in Lyon, Lausanne und Montpellier, the Narrator in Saint-Saëns Le Carnaval des animaux, Dvořák‘s New World Symphony and Honegger‘s Le Roi David, Grieg’s Peer Gynt, Stravinsky’s Fire Bird, Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet, Poulenc’s Babar the Elephant, Britten’s The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra and Gluck's Iphigénie enTauride.
