Alice Coote, one of the most sought after mezzo-sopranos in the world for more than 20 years, is back in Frankfurt where she thrilled audiences sing Sesto (role debut) in a new production of La clemenza di Tito, Charlotte in Werther, Marguerite in La Damnation de Faust and Sara in concert performances of Donizetti's Roberto Devereux to give her third recital, which was preceded by unforgettable Schubert's Winterreise and an evening of Belle Époch chansons, which were also accompanied by Julius Drake. This British artist appears at leading opera houses and concert halls around the world. Roles in her broad and varied repertoire include her legendary Carmen at ENO, Dorabella (Così fan tutte), the title role in The Rape of Lucretia, Madame de Croissy and Mère Maris (The Carmelites), Cassandra (Les Troyens), Leonora (Adès’ The Exterminating Angel), Idamante (Idomeneo) at the Metropolitan Opera, Vitellia (La clemenza di Tito) in Glyndebourne and at the BBC Proms, Octavian (Der Rosenkavalier) at Covent Garden and Lyric Opera of Chicago and the Composer (Ariadne auf Naxos) at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich. Many recordings document her remarkable career. This winner of the Brigitte Fassbaender and Decca Kathleen Ferrier prizes was awarded an OBE for her services to music in 2018. Engagements this season include La Zia Principessa (Suor Angelica) at the Tirol Festival in Erl, Judith in Bluebeard's Castle with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and Mahler's Rückert Lieder with the Luxembourg Philharmonic.
