Michaela Schaudel studied at the University for Music and the Performing Arts in Frankfurt, graduating in 1998. She intensified her knowledge in the art of Lieder singing with Charles Spencer and Gundula Janowitz. She won 3rd prize as best soprano at the 1992 National Competition. She worked in Trier from 1997–98 gaining her first experiences in a chorus and as a soloist (Barbarina, Overseer, Sophie de Palma). She joined the Chorus at Oper Frankfurt in 1998, singing solos including Annina (La Traviata), 2nd Witch (Macbeth), an Alms Sister (Suor Angelica) and roles in lots of operas adapted for children (including Gilda in Rigoletto). In productions for Frankfurt Chamber Opera in the Palm(en) Garden she sang Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus) and Rosalinde and the Countess (Le nozze di Figaro). She also took part in Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem / A German Requiem and Haydn’s Die Schöpfung / The Creation conducted by Werner Wolfrum.
