Mikołaj Trąbka joined Oper Frankfurt's ensemble in 2018/19. His roles during the 2025/26 season include Lescaut in Manon Lescaut, Tadeusz in Weinberg's The (female) Passenger, Leonardo (role debut) in a new production of Fortner's Bluthochzeit / Blood Wedding and he repeats his wonderful portrayals of Moralès / Dancaïro in Carmen and the King in Orff's Clever Woman. Last season he enjoyed success with Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro, the House Boy in Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk and Marullo in Rigoletto. This Polish baritone's roles in previous seasons included Malatesta & Mathes in new productions of Don Pasquale & Zemlinsky's George the Dreamer, De Siriex in Giodarno's Fedora and Milord Arespingh (Cimarosa's L'italiana in Londra, get the DVD!), Dandini (La Cenerentola), the title role in Eugene Onegin, a Slapstick Artist (Schreker's Elusive Sound), Háraschta (Janáček's Cunning Little Vixen), & Robert (Tchaikovsky's Iolanta), Andrei (Eötvös' Three Sisters - get the CD!), Harlekin (Ariadne auf Naxos), Filippo (Rossini's La gazzetta), Nicholas (Barber's Vanessa), Donald (Billy Budd), roles in Daphne, Wozzeck, Saytricon and an online evening of Tchaikovsky Lieder, staged by Christof Loy (get the DVD!). This former member of the Opera Studio studied at the Teatr / Opera Narodowa's Opera Academy in Warsaw, where he sang Papageno (Die Zauberflöte), a role he also sang in South Korea, and in Jan Stefani's Cud albo Krakowiaki i Górale / A Miracle or Cracovians and Highlanders. He made his debut at the 2022 Salzburg Festival in Gianni Schicchi, sang Harlekin (Ariadne) at the Opéra National de Montpellier and Deutsch Oper am Rhein in 2019, returning to Montpellier in 2024 for Marcello in Puccini's La bohème. Other recent guest engagements inclued Malatesta in Karlsruhe, Marullo in Hannover, Pappacoda (A Night in Venice), Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia), the world premiere of Włodzimierz Korcz’ Łódź Story at the Teatr Wielki in Łódź and in Bydgoszcz. He sang Belcore (role debut) in L'elisir d'amore at the Tirol Festival in Erl, where he returned for one of his favourite roles, the Minstrel in Humperdinck's Königskinder in 2023. He sang Papageno with the Komische Oper Berlin on tour to South Korea in 2017 and again to Macau and Taiwan in 2019 and won the 2018 Stella Maris Singing Competition and Opera Bucharest's 2015 Grand Prix.
