Philippe Jacq

The actor Philippe Jacq is appearing at Oper Frankfurt for the first time, as the Master of Ceremonies and Duke of Bedford in this revival of Honegger's Jeanne d'Arc au Bûcher. Born in France, he came to Germany in the 1990s and calls himself a polyglot, enjoying a career in both languages, and English. He was taught by John Strasberg in New York and Sarah Eigerman in Paris. He appears regularly in classic and contemporary works on stages in Europe, in international films and on television. He recently took part in filming for El Presidente in Uruguay directed by Armando Bo, and Nuremberg, in Hungary directed by James Vanderbilt. He appears on German and Austrian television in series including Tatort, Der Staatsanwalt, Ein Fall für zwei, Der letzte Bulle and SOKO Donau. Passionate about inter-cultural dialogue, he founded the EuropeanTheatre Company, which regularly stages plays in French and English, where he was recently took part in Beckett's Happy Days . He also acted the title role in Goethe's Faust – A Pact with the Devil at Frankfurt's International Theatre.
